OpenSUSE 11.1 Best Release Ever

I have not installed OpenSUSE 11.1 but I have never been able to get a download faster directly linked to a distro then through bit-torrent till today. No melted down servers. I can't imagine how much bandwidth they must have made available.

I think I am going to give Gnome a chance again. Banshee has won my heart and so why not have a trimmed down install. The only problem is I LOVE KDE 4.1 it has a much higher coolness and eyecandy factor then gnome just in the Crystal icons.

Article about the work place and naughty pictures

http://news.com.com/Bosses+on+the+prowl+for+risque+pics/2100-1022_3-5752067.html?part=rss&tag=5752067&subj=news

CNET News article shows that 90% of companies in the US have a policy in place for when "naughty" pictures are found. Also 63% of companies have or plan to have employees who analyze employee's email.

Software Resources

Hyperclip - I love this program. It is a "outliner" which allows you to organize your information and thoughts in a simple to use database. (Shareware)

Picasa2 - This is a great image program that edits and organizes better than ACDSee and best of all it's free. (FREE)

maintenances X5 Pro - This program has changed the way I think in front of a computer. No longer do I have to write thing on paper to make sure I understand and that I can "really" think things through. It allows you to map out thoughts and make simple or complex flow charts into any thing you would want. You can have it make a simple outline in Word, make a Power Point presentation, allow yourself to present through its own awesome presentation process. Only thing that I can say badly about it is that it cost $$$. ($159+)

Fire Fox - The only way to surf the internet. No pop up ads, and endless possibilities. It makes surfing the web much more productive.

Endnote
- Are you always hating bibliographies? Have so many resources to cite that you don't know what to do? Do you hate typing in all the information, and hope you did it right? Ever used MLA and it was suppose to be in APA and your paper is due that day? Well EndNote fixes all those problems. It is a bibliography program that integrates with Word and does all these task for you. I can't tell you how it saved me for my Hebrew 2 paper and my Senior Research paper. ($100+)

Open Office - This is the best FREE Word Processor I have found. It is second only to M$ Word and it has something that I find to be better (It can create Adobe Files). It also has a spread sheet and a Power Point Program, but the word process is the best available for the price.

Vocab Works - The best Flash Card program out there. It allows you to make your own cards and allow you to test yourself many ways, but my favorite for Greek and Hebrew is it will print off a vocab quiz for you. HIGHLY recommended and it is FREE.

Google Desktop Search
- This allows you to search your computer just like you would search the internet. Your computer information is not given out and I find it a necessary tool for dealing with lost files, emails, etc..

ComputerZen.com - Scott Hanselman's Weblog - Scott Hanselman's 2005 Ultimate Developer and Power Users Tool List This is a great list of tools for personal computers and also some programing.
